Santa Cruz and a New School

Fall, 2008

We finally got to Santa Cruz, California!   We are staying with my grandparents at their house.  My cousins also live in Santa Cruz.  It is very hot in California  so we go to the beach  a lot.   In October, my brother, my cousin, my friend, and I, took surfing lessons. It was very exciting!!  It was a very fun summer.  But,  of course, school came too soon.  The first day of school was August 27, 2008.  My new school is called Mission Hill Middle School.  It is a school for grades 6-8.  You take six classes:  P.E., Algebra, Science, Core ( English and History), and an elective.  My elective is ceramics.  I am also doing gold band.  The only thing I don't like about band is that it starts at 7:15, so you have to wake up early.  We have even period days and odd period days.  Every wednesday is a half day.  On half days we have all our classes.  My cousin, Nico, also goes to Mission Hill.  He is in grade seven.  My other cousin, Andreas, is in my sister Caroline's grade 5 class.  Caroline is going to Westlake elementary school for grades kindergarten-5.  My brother Philippe is going to Santa Cruz High.  It has been very fun here in California and our whole family is looking forward to our 'round the world trip starting at the end of January.
